What you need to do before you order your sod is figure the square footage of your lawn. Following the measuring of the lawn you need to prepare your soil. First you need to get rid of any weeds that are currently living in the lawn areas. Then use a minimum of 3 cubic yards of cow manure & peat moss, or sheep and peat, per 1000 sq. ft. of sod to be installed in. So if you order 2000 sq. ft. of sod you will need to add 6 cubic yards of the cow manure & peat moss mixture. Rototill the soil 4 to 5 inches deep after you have added the peat moss and manure. If you are putting in a sprinkling system the heads of the sprinklers need to be 1 1/4 inches above the prepared ground. Rake the dirt getting rid the low and high spots of the prepared soil. Make sure the ground is packed enough so you don't experience settling after you have laid your new lawn. Then it is time to call and order your beautiful sod See contact information on how to order your sod <----Click here
